Malin Kundang

Folklore of West Sumatra

One day, the family lived on the coast of northern Sumatra. Families that have a child named Malin Kundang. Because of the condition of their families is very worrying, then Malin father decided to go to the opposite state.

Malin and his mother's great hope, one day his father returned with a lot of money which can later be to buy daily necessities. After many months of Malin's father turns out not visit the next, and finally pupuslah hope Malin Kundang and her mother.

After moving adult Malin Kundang, she thought for a living in the state in hopes of eventually opposite when returning to their homes, it has become one of the rich. Malin Kundang finally come sailing along with a merchant ship captains in his hometown that was a success.

During their stay in the ship, Malin Kundang lot to learn about seamanship on the crew experienced. Malin study hard about shipping on friends who are more experienced, and finally he is very skilled in terms of shipping.

Many islands have been visited, up to a day in the middle of the trip, suddenly boarded the ship Malin Kundang attacked by pirates. All merchandise traders who were on the ship seized by pirates. Even most of the crew and people on the ship were killed by the pirates. Not long after, the wind and the storm terrible rumbling tempest came destroy the ship Malin Kundang. After that Malin Kundang body slowly becomes rigid and eventually finally shaped into a rock.
